HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER WRITE LABEL?

I was contributing to a comedy website in the UK and spotted another writer’s bio that mentioned he was a writer with Write Label.

I thought it sounded interesting, so I signed up for Write Label, completed the test, and received an email inviting me to join.

HOW DO YOU COME UP YOUR IDEAS FOR ADS?

I try to have a good browse of the client’s website to get a feel for their style/approach/tone. Then, I raid my imagination and aim to come up with the most interesting angle I can think of.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WRITING FOR WRITE LABEL?

I enjoy the challenge of competing with some really brilliant writers to try to create something that stands out. I think the standard is high, and that can only help me improve.

I also have a short attention span, so I love that the projects are short and plentiful. There’s always something new to sink your teeth into.

WHAT IS IT LIKE WRITING FOR SUCH A DIVERSE GROUP OF CLIENTS?

It’s my favorite part of the whole thing. You see the company name appear in the project list, and often, you have no idea whether it’s going to be a restaurant or a new type of dog shampoo.

Then there are the various ad lengths and required tones, plus sometimes very specific client requests. It all helps you as a writer to — apologies for the lame phrase — work on your craft!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR FUTURE WRITE LABEL WRITERS?

Try to be original, take on board any feedback from Write Label editors and don’t get discouraged if you have a little run where your ads don’t get featured or favorited — the next day, you might get several!
