HOW DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER WRITE LABEL?

I discovered Write Label through a friend who told me about Comedywire, and it seemed to be right up my wisecracking alley. When I was invited to join Write Label, it was a great day. I kid you not.

HOW DO YOU COME UP YOUR IDEAS FOR ADS?

For me, ideas for some ads come easily because I’ve been addicted to advertising jingles all my life. My speech pattern sometimes sounds like I’m always selling something. Also, the millions of hours I spent in front of the TV help with the style. All those wasted hours glued to the tube weren’t so bad after all!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WRITING FOR WRITE LABEL?

Being a part of a virtual writers’ room with very talented people brings out the best. And, of course, the casual dress code.

WHAT IS IT LIKE WRITING FOR SUCH A DIVERSE GROUP OF CLIENTS?

The sheer range of clients that we’re asked to write for keeps things fresh and keeps the imagination going.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR FUTURE WRITE LABEL WRITERS?

For future writers, all I can say is this — you’ve got a style, and this is a wonderfully creative place to do what you know you’re good at. What the clients’ request is very informative — you really hear “their voice” when they describe their business. If they sound a little informal, or businesslike, or maybe if you pick up a regionalism, that’s a great starting point to understand the style they want.

Writing for Write Label offers you great freedom. I learn something new every day.
